Before I’m 31: Following My Curiosity for 60-Something Days

I’ll be 31 in 60-something days, and lately I’ve realized just how many things I keep saying I want to try.

My list of interests is constantly getting longer. I want to learn how to crochet and cross-stitch. I want to actually learn about tarot cards, crystals, horoscopes, and witchcraft instead of just thinking they’re interesting. I want to learn how to do my own nails, get better about skincare, try different workouts, thrift for clothes, make things for my house—the list just keeps going.

And TikTok definitely does not help.

I am SO easily influenced by people online. I’ll watch someone build something for their house and immediately think, Oh, I could totally do that. Meanwhile, I’ve never held a power saw in my life.

Then I’ll see someone go to Goodwill, find a bunch of cute clothes, completely change up their style, and suddenly I want to do that too.

It’s not that I don’t actually do the things I’m interested in. I do. I’ve spent most of this year on and off painting and decorating my house because I wanted it to finally feel like me.

The problem is that for every one thing I do, I seem to find five more things I want to try.

I have videos saved everywhere, screenshots on my phone, things sitting in online carts, ideas in my head, and a constantly growing list of I want to try that.

So I started thinking: I have 60-something days until my birthday. What if I actually start trying some of it?

Not everything. I have a toddler, a husband, dogs, a house, and work. I also cannot spend the next two months blowing money at Hobby Lobby because I’ve suddenly decided I need supplies for 14 different hobbies.

But I can start going through the things I’ve been curious about and actually give some of them a try.

Maybe I’ll find a hobby I love. Maybe I’ll discover I absolutely hate crocheting. Maybe I’ll finally learn what half the crystals I think are pretty actually mean. Maybe I’ll attempt something I saw on TikTok and discover that the woman who made it look easy is a liar.

I really don’t know.

I just think it would be fun to see how much I can explore before I turn 31.
